Red spots/ Veins & Vessels
When we look into the mirror, we wish to see clear, healthy skin. So many factors determine the health and appearance of this organ that millions of people struggle with problems such as red marks or broken blood vessels in highly visible areas.
Spider veins and red marks on the face may appear due to the natural process of aging. External factors that may increase the likelihood of marks on the skin include direct trauma and sun damage. Lastly, redness and visible spider veins may be secondary to a medical condition such as rosacea. Whatever the cause of discoloration, when veins or red spots
become very noticeable, the primary concern is finding what types of treatments
can resolve the issue. At Dermatology on Bloor, men and women in the Toronto
area have a variety of treatment options.
Lasers are an incredible option for the treatment of visible veins on the face and body. This type of treatment directs a very specific wavelength of light at a problematic mark. Today, there are a variety of lasers from which your experienced physician chooses to address specific problems. One wavelength may be better for the elimination of veins where another is ideal for red marks. The benefit of laser treatment is that technology has been extensively tested and proven to affect only the intended cells. Skin surrounding a vein or mark will not be damaged by laser treatment.
Intense pulsed light treatment
Intense pulsed light treatment, or IPL, affects the skin by targeting cells with multiple wavelengths of light. One of the advantages of IPL treatment is that the inclusion of multiple wavelengths of light allows the device to treat a variety of skin concerns. IPL treatment may be used alone or in combination with vascular laser treatment to diminish the appearance of red spots, tiny blood vessels, diffuse redness and more.
