Minimally invasive treatment for expression lines found in the Toronto area
We all get them. Those lines that form on the skin. Fine lines and wrinkles are a natural part of aging, though a common problem for which men and women have long sought solutions. In order to effectively treat wrinkles, it helps to recognize which type you have. The two primary types of wrinkles seen on the face are dynamic and static wrinkles.

Dynamic wrinkles are those “expression lines” that develop as a result of repetitive movement of facial muscles. When we express ourselves with a frown or a laugh, the muscles in the upper part of the face are at work. When muscles contract, lines can be seen. Typically, dynamic wrinkles will disappear when the face is relaxed, at least when we are young.
As the skin ages, there is a loss of substances such as Hyaluronic acid and collagen, substances that are vital to the skin’s support network. At the same time, often-used muscles become toned and tend to stay contracted beneath the skin, causing problems such as brow furrows or crow’s feet.
Static lines are those that are a constant fixture, regardless of facial relaxation. These lines are always present, a result of loss of elasticity in the skin. At the point where dynamic wrinkles no longer disappear, they become static wrinkles. Static wrinkles may also develop on the lower portion of the face, around the nose, mouth, and chin.
Treatment for expression lines can be found in Toronto
Facial changes no longer have to be addressed with invasive cosmetic procedures that require anesthesia and down time. At Dermatology on Bloor, men and women can improve their aesthetic by softening or eliminating dynamic and static wrinkles with minimally invasive cosmetic injectable solutions.
One of the most recognized non-surgical treatments for expression lines is BOTOX®. This injectable solution is applied to the muscles on the forehead and around the eyes to reduce muscle contractions. The result of relaxed muscles is a marked decrease in the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
