About our Facility
Dermatology on Bloor is an ultra-modern state of the art practice with a long, rich history that demonstrates our dedication to providing excellence in medicine and patient care.
Our story begins with Dr. Ricky Kanee Schachter who overcame the obstacles presented to females and to Jewish people in early 20th century medicine. She blazed her own trail and became a celebrated dermatologist. Among other achievements, she was the Canadian Dermatology Association's first female president and the Kanee Schachter Dermatology Center at Women's College Hospital was established to honor her contributions to medicine.
Dr. G. Daniel Schachter followed in his mother's footsteps, becoming an accomplished, respected dermatologist in his own right. He is a consultant dermatologist for several hospitals, a clinical researcher, and has served as a medical consultant for numerous media outlets.
It was on these pillars of excellence that Dr. Ricky Kanee Schachter and Dr. G. Daniel Schachter opened Dermatology on Bloor in 1986 to offer patients in Toronto the best dermatological care possible.
After the launch of Botox Cosmetic in 1996, Drs. Schachter and Schachter began to better realize their patient's cosmetic concerns, and with the medical practice being so busy, they decided to offer these cosmetic patients a more pampered experience. Cosmetic Dermatology on Bloor opened in the suite next to the medical office in 208 Bloor street W in 2001, equipped with injection chairs and a spa-like atmosphere.
Later that year Dr. M. Anne Curtis joined the practice, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and laser experience. In addition to serving the Sunnybrook and Women's College Health Sciences Centre and the University of Health Network, she is VP of Eglinton Branch Society of the Ontario Medical Association and the Toronto Dermatological Society.
In 2009, Dr. Sameh Hanna joined the practice bringing with him many years of international dermatology experience and a desire to grow the practice to better serve the Toronto Cosmetic Community needs. Dr. Hanna is on the CDA board, and chairs the Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee of the Canadian Dermatology Association, in addition to being active in clinical research.
In 2012 the Laser Centre in the Women' College Hospital was closed, and Dermatology on Bloor realized the need for a physician based laser centre in the heart of Toronto, and so in 2013 Laser Dermatology on Bloor was born. Equipped with the latest Broadband Light, Radiofrequency, Ultrasound, and injectable technology, the clinic's newest addition is a state-of-the-art facility we cannot WAIT to show off.
